A Typical Day

Breakfast is offered until 7:30 a.m. There are various activities in which children can participate, including board games, art/craft projects, or homework. All children go outside by 7:55 a.m. and then enter school with their class. Staff remain on duty until 8:15 a.m.

A simple breakfast (cereal, milk, granola bars, etc.) is offered until 7:30 a.m. There is no additional cost for breakfast.

When dismissed at 3 p.m., Extended Day students go to the Commons for a snack. After snack, weather permitting, children go outside for playtime. In the event of rain or bad weather, the children have free time in the gymnasium or in the locker bay area near the Extended Day room. Once children return to the Extended Day room, they have the opportunity to spend time doing homework, or taking part in a daily craft/activity.

Each afternoon a snack and beverage is offered. A typical snack includes: milk, crackers, cheese, popcorn, fruits, and vegetables. We make every attempt to accommodate special diets.

Good hygiene practices as they relate to food are followed by children and staff. Everyone must wash their hands before preparing or eating snack food.

Non-School Days

Registration for non-school days is required in advance. In case of low enrollment, Extended Day will be closed. Notification of special activities along with permission slips will be available approximately two weeks in advance.

Breakfast will be available to those children who arrive before 7:30 a.m. Children will participate in free time, structured activities, outdoor or gym games, and possibly a movie or cooking activity. Every child is required to bring a bag lunch. Milk and an afternoon snack will be provided.
