Art Adventure 2018
Holy Spirit partners with the Minneapolis Institute of Art to bring art to the school! When students in grades K-5 return after the holiday break, Art Adventure will begin. Our theme this year is Amazing Animals in Art. Art Adventure is a program that engages students with works of art from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Parent volunteers attend training at the MIA, based on the theme, and block time in the classroom to discuss the theme and the artwork in the assigned set. The program encourages creatively, critical thinking and global awareness through an in-depth exploration of art across various cultures and time periods. Art Adventure is an opportunity for students to experience art up close through reproductions, technology and touch and feel props. At the end of the program, students will travel by bus to the MIA to see the set in person!
In addition, Mrs. Wollmering is so kind to pull books that associate with the theme and display them in the library for students and the classroom volunteers to use.
Be sure to check in with your child in January to hear about Amazing Animals in Art! If you have questions about the program, please contact Sarah Burke.
