It’s hard to believe that it’s time to prepare for the 2017 Marathon for Non-Public Education. Many of you have been part of this experience in the past, but for those who are new click here for information to help you understand and participate in this great event.
The Marathon is a statewide public relations and fundraising activity in support of non-public education. Students obtain donations from sponsors (friends, relatives, parents, etc.) and then walk a Marathon route. ALL OF THE PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY TO HOLY SPIRIT.
The Marathon enables those who support and advocate for nonpublic education to make a demonstrate their belief and involvement. As we all know, Catholic Schools make a real contribution to the total community. That’s what the Marathon celebrates.
Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, the Marathon for Non-Public Education has raised nearly $100 million for Non-Public Education statewide.
Marathon at Holy Spirit
We ask families to strive to meet their Marathon Goal. Families with one child at Holy Spirit have a goal of raising $150. Families with two or more children have a goal of raising $250. Some families struggle to meet that goal, others exceed it. Do the best you can!
Through a matching gift program, many businesses will meet or increase charitable contributions made by their employees to nonprofit organizations like our school. The impact of matching gifts may double or possible triple some pledges to our school. Please check with your employer to learn if they offer matching gifts and how you can activate this opportunity.
Our school goal is to raise $40,000. There are incentives for individual students and families to meet their goal and some school-wide incentives as well. You will be learning more about these soon.
On Marathon Day (Oct. 6), K-2 students walk through the neighborhood cheered on by parents and older students. Students from grade 3-8 walk to the Highland High School Track; meet up with their friends from Highland Catholic School and Nativity School; and walk or run the track. After school, all students are treated to an ice cream dessert thanks to the Holy Spirit PTA.
Donations can be made on-line by going to the Holy Spirit website, clicking the SUPPORT US tab and going to the Marathon for Non-Public Education link. There you will find a GIVE NOW button. Once you add your donation amount, hit the SELECT button and indicate on whose behalf you are donating.
As always, call the office with questions. The Marathon for Non-Public Education is complex and sometimes we forget to pass on details that are familiar to us.
